Delays in mail syncronization for mailboxes hosted on a Plesk server

Symptoms

Users may experience delayed or inconsistent email synchronization on mobile devices, particularly with the following email clients:
- Gmail app on Android and iOS
- Outlook app on iOS
- Default Mail app on iOS
The issue manifests as:
- Emails not appearing automatically on mobile devices
- Manual refresh required to receive new emails
- Lack of push notifications for new messages

Cause

The primary causes for this behavior are:

Mobile app settings and limitations
Battery optimization features on mobile devices
App-specific sync intervals

Resolution

To improve email synchronization on mobile devices, try the following solutions:

For Gmail on Android

For Gmail on iOS

For Outlook on iOS

For iOS Mail App

Disable battery optimization for the Gmail app:
- Go to Android Settings
- Navigate to Apps > Gmail
- Select "Battery"
- Choose "Don't optimize"
Adjust sync frequency in the Gmail app:
- Open Gmail app
- Tap the menu icon
- Go to Settings > your email account
- Tap on "Sync frequency"
- Select the desired interval (minimum 15 minutes)

Enable push notifications:
- Go to iPhone Settings
- Scroll down and tap "Gmail"
- Ensure "Background App Refresh" is turned on
- Enable all necessary notification options
Consider using the default iOS Mail app instead, which tends to have fewer sync issues

Check Outlook app settings:
- Open Outlook app
- Tap your account icon
- Go to Settings > your email account
- Ensure "Push" is selected for new email notifications
If issues persist, consider using the default iOS Mail app as an alternative

Optimize mail settings:
- Go to iPhone Settings
- Scroll down and tap "Mail"
- Tap "Accounts" and select your email account
- Ensure "Mail" is toggled on
- Go back to Mail settings and tap "Fetch New Data"
- Select "Push" if available, or choose an appropriate fetch interval
Disable Low Power Mode, as it can affect background app refresh

Note: Most mobile email clients have a minimum sync interval of 15 minutes to conserve battery life. For immediate notifications, manual refresh may still be necessary.
