How to upgrade PHP version for phpMyAdmin shipped with Plesk?

Warning: It is not recommended to upgrade the PHP version for phpMyAdmin as it might break Plesk installation. Manual upgrade procedure might break Plesk or phpMyAdmin installation and should be performed on own risk.
phpMyAdmin runs on the same PHP engine that is used by Plesk. Updates for the PHP version used by Plesk and therefore by phpMyAdmin are only shipped with Plesk updates.
