phpPgAdmin is to PostgreSQL what PhpMyAdmin is to MySQL, which means that it lets you access and manage the databases your website relies on much more easily, using your web browser. If you use PostgreSQL databases, then phpPgAdmin should be your management tool of choice. As with PhpMyAdmin it’s PHP-based and it’s used to make creating and managing databases as simple as possible, even for users who don’t have much experience of doing so.

To date, PhpPgAdmin has been translated into a grand total of 27 languages, which has helped to boost its appeal around the world. It’s simple to set up and configure and it lets users manage multiple servers at the same time. It comes with a graphical interface that lets you use SQL commands, and it will also let you import SQL scripts. It has a straightforward interface that lets you pull together data tables and add information with a minimum of fuss.

Although phpPgAdmin is known for its simplicity, it also comes with a whole host of excellent features that have been designed to make it more flexible and more reliable. As we said, it makes the process of creating PostgreSQL databases, editing tables, columns and fields, and implementing SQL statements and a variety of different scripts a cinch. phpPgAdmin also lets you:

  • handle user access privileges and groups
  • export and import data in various file formats
  • find, edit and delete data fast
  • view data
  • manage schemas, indexes, triggers and so on…
  • Use Slony—asynchronous master-slave replication engine
