WP Guardian (Plesk addon) is a must-have for all WordPress professionals, offering vulnerability protection for their WordPress sites with an ever-increasing selection of other premium features.

Licensing

WP Guardian (Plesk addon) requires a separate license specific to current Plesk edition. The license grants unlimited use of included features for all sites hosted on a server with the exception of vulnerability protection feature which provides a limited number of license seats.

Note: WP Guardian (Plesk addon) for Web Admin requires purchase of full WP Toolkit in order to work.

Important: Upgrading your Plesk license to a different edition does not automatically upgrade your WP Guardian (Plesk addon) license. You will need to purchase a new WP Guardian (Plesk addon) license that fits your new Plesk Edition.

Vulnerability Protection

Vulnerability protection is a non-invasive, automated, lightweight way to neutralize vulnerabilities in WordPress plugins, themes, and WordPress core. It keeps your site secure while you are waiting for an update with proper fix to be available. Once enabled on a site, vulnerability protection neutralizes high and medium risk vulnerabilities automatically whenever they appear without any need for user engagement.

• A WordPress plugin will be installed when protection is enabled to automatically mitigate dangerous vulnerabilities by applying special protection rules.
• Protection rules work like a firewall, so they never touch or modify the site code.
• Protection rules are applied and removed only for specific vulnerabilities on any given site, so they have minimal effect on site performance.
• This feature and its corresponding upsell prompts are not visible to control panel users by default. Only the server administrator can see it.
• You can control the access to this feature via separate limit in your Service Plans and subscriptions.
• Vulnerability protection is provided by the WP Guardian platform
• The technical name of this feature is "virtual patching", and it’s powered by Patchstack.

Smart Updates

Smart Updates allow site administrators to test available updates without affecting the production site.

• Smart Update works with updates of WordPress core, plugins, and themes
• Smart Update can be performed manually or automatically
• Smart Update clones the production website and updates it, checking for issues that appear after the update
• Site administrator is provided with a detailed list of changes detected after the update
• Smart Update also notifies about preexisting issues that are present on a site before the update
• Site administrator can access the test site at any time to check it personally
• When site administrator confirms the update, Smart Update deletes the test site and runs the update on the production site
• When both autoupdates and Smart Updates are enabled on a site, Smart Update will run automatically as a part of autoupdate procedure
• Smart Update sends site administrator a link to Smart Update results page when it runs automatically
• Autoupdates are not applied if Smart Update finds any issues during the test run

Smart PHP Updates

Smart PHP Updates allow site administrators to test how their site will work on a different PHP version without affecting the production site.

• Smart PHP Update clones the production website and runs it on a different PHP version, checking for issues that appear after the PHP version switch
• Site administrator can choose which PHP version should be used on the clone
• Site administrator is provided with a detailed list of changes detected after the PHP version switch
• Smart PHP Update also notifies about preexisting issues that are present on a site before the switch
• Site administrator can access the test site at any time to check it personally
• If site administrator confirms PHP version switch, Smart PHP Update deletes the test site and changes the PHP version on the production site
