Changing Database Administrator’s Credentials

administrator guidedatabase serversdatabasedatabase serverhost name

In most cases, to change the credentials with which Plesk accesses a
database server, you should first change these credentials on the
database server and then update them in Plesk. Except for the situations
described below, you cannot change the credentials through Plesk.

Note: In most cases, updating the credentials through Plesk does not change
them on the database server.

The exception is Plesk for Windows, which allows you to change the
database administrators’ password. Another exception is PostgreSQL,
which receives the changes in database administrator credentials that
you make in Plesk.

Updating Database Administrator’s Credentials in Plesk

If you have changed the administrator’s credentials on the database
server, it is necessary to change them in Plesk as well.

To update the database server administrator’s credentials in Plesk
(Linux):

  1. Go to Tools & Settings > Database Servers.
  2. Click the host name of a database server.
  3. Provide the new username and password of the database server
    administrator.

To update the database server administrator’s credentials in Plesk
(Windows):

  1. Go to Tools & Settings > Database Servers.
  2. Click the host name of a database server and then Settings.
  3. Provide the new username and password of the database server
    administrator.

Changing Database Administrator’s Password (Windows)

You can change the password of the user that is currently used by Plesk
to access the database server. When you change the password in the Plesk
UI, it will be changed on the database server automatically and updated
in the database server settings in Plesk.

To change the database server administrator’s password:

  1. Go to Tools & Settings > Database Servers.
  2. Click the host name of a database server.
  3. Click Change Password.
  4. Enter the new password and click OK.
