Plesk Obsidian 18.0.72: Introducing Smarter Hosting with AI

We are excited to announce the release of Plesk Obsidian 18.0.72, bringing AI-powered website creation, stronger security options, extended OS support, and numerous enhancements to your hosting experience.

What’s New

Sitejet AI Website Generator

Say hello to faster website launches. With the new Sitejet AI Website Generator, you can build clean, responsive websites in a matter of seconds. Simply provide details about your business or organization, and the built-in AI will generate a professional site that you can edit and launch directly from the Sitejet Builder extension.

AlmaLinux OS 10 Support (Linux)

Plesk can now be installed on AlmaLinux 10. We recommend using AlmaLinux 10 for all new deployments to ensure maximum stability and long-term support.

Jodit HTML Editor

The File Manager editor has received a major upgrade. The Jodit Editor replaces SPAW, delivering a modern, full-page WYSIWYG HTML editor with powerful text formatting, styling, and alignment tools. Note: This version of Jodit is provided in BETA and will be further improved in upcoming releases.

Stronger Mail Security (Linux)

You now have the option to enable password hashing for mail accounts instead of symmetric encryption. Only the passwords created after enabling mail password hashing are hashed; those created before remain symmetrically encrypted. However, you can also manually hash existing ones for added protection. Learn how to manually hash all mail account passwords.

To remove the ability to switch between password hashing and symmetric encryption from the Plesk interface, add the following lines to the panel.ini file:

[passwordManagement]
features.allowEmailPasswordHashing = false

Extended Lifecycle Support for Ubuntu 20.04 (Linux)

Plesk now offers Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) for Ubuntu 20.04 until December 31, 2027 (beyond the vendor’s EOL in April 2025).  This will be provided free of charge until the end of 2025. However, from then, as EOL operating systems require additional development and maintenance costs to support, this offer will come with an added cost. We recommend upgrading to supported OS versions whenever possible.

Feature Improvements

  • HTTP/3 Control (Linux): Enable or disable HTTP/3 support server-wide via the Tools & Settings panel.
  • Windows Server In-Place Upgrade: Seamlessly upgrade from Windows Server 2019 to 2025. A server snapshot is strongly recommended before upgrading.
  • Accessibility Enhancements: Key pages now support screen readers with semantic HTML and ARIA attributes.
  • PHP 8.4 Default: PHP 8.4 is now part of the Recommended preset and the default for Service Plans. PHP 8.1 is no longer recommended.
  • Laravel Toolkit: Customer users now see a deployment-progress window for better visibility.
  • Admin Aliases: Back up, restore, and migrate admin aliases with ease.

Deprecated and Removed

  • Plesk UserVoice Deprecation: UserVoice will be discontinued by October 2025. Future product suggestions and feature requests will move to Plesk Productboard. Share your ideas at features.plesk.com.
  • SPAW File Manager Editor Removed: SPAW has been fully retired in favor of the modern Jodit Editor.
