What is MCP?
MCP is an open protocol that standardizes how applications provide context to LLMs. Think of MCP like a USB-C port for AI applications.
Install this extension on your Plesk server and manage it using your favorite LLMs, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. To use it, simply install the MCP client for your LLM of choice and connect it to your Plesk server’s MCP endpoint.
Known Issues and Caveats
- To securely use the MCP server, a valid SSL certificate must be installed on the Plesk server. Self-signed certificates are typically not supported by MCP clients.
- To generate a different base MCP server connection URL (e.g., including a port number), log in to Plesk using this base URL and then navigate to the extension.
- Configuring with a free Claude Desktop subscription requires Node.js (with the
npx
binary) installed on the machine where Claude Desktop is running. - Knowledge base integration is not yet fully available. To test it, request the required files in the extension announcement forum thread. An OpenAI API key is required for the integration. The integration is not supported on CentOS 7.
