Plesk sets new standards for speed and agility of web operations

Plesk is becoming a stand-alone company and launches its new brand and strategic positioning at Worldhostingdays 2016, the largest hosting & cloud event in the world. (

Zurich, Switzerland and Toronto, Canada – March 15th, 2016 – Following an earlier announcement from Parallels Holdings Limited that Plesk will become a stand-alone company after the sale of Odin Service Automation to Ingram Micro in December 2015, Plesk is now launching its new strategic positioning as a rock solid WebOps platform. While Plesk leads in serving the needs of webhosting management, it now provides access to a ready-to-code and secure environment for all major web development tasks and is designed to simplify the life of web developers.

WebOps (or Web Operations) is defined as a domain of expertise that involves the deployment, operation, security, maintenance, scaling, and repair of web-based applications and systems. In the past, such tasks involved many specialists to ensure that everything works together throughout an application’s lifetime. The role today has gained significant respect as a distinct specialty to support application developers and is considered by many to be a subset of the larger DevOps movement. Over time, WebOps tasks got simplified and are therefore also manageable for less experienced users through automation. Plesk automates relevant tasks and processes providing auto-deployment, auto-maintenance, self-repair functionalities and mass-management of the fastest growing application suites such as WordPress and more than 100 other applications.

“We are thrilled that our solid long-term focused business is growing so fast. More than 50% of the top 100 world-wide service providers are using Plesk today and Plesk powers more than 10million websites and applications.” says Nils Hueneke, CEO, Plesk. “The new independence provides us with the opportunity to sharpen our focus as a company and make a fast transition to becoming a full-stack cloud company adding value to 20million developers. This important end-user audience will buy their infrastructure either from one of our valued Service Provider Partners around the globe or through hyperscale cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services.”

Following the launch of its new strategic positioning, today Plesk is also announcing Jan Loeffler as the new Chief Technical Officer (CTO). Jan is joining Plesk from Zalando, one of the largest European online retailers. As head of platform engineering Jan was responsible for keeping thousands of servers running and had a large development team reporting to him. Earlier in his career, he was responsible for the development of all webhosting, server and domain products at 1&1 Internet, one of the largest service providers in the world.

“Jan Loeffler’s broad experience in the hosting industry combined with his knowledge about current technologies and future trends will accelerate our execution to lead as the next generation developer focused cloud platform” says Nils Hueneke, CEO, Plesk. “Jan and his team will further develop a visionary strategy to support the future needs of web developers through growth of the open source based Plesk Extensions ecosystem and close engagements with important communities such as WordPress, Joomla! or CMS Garden.
